Hands down, best dog day afternoon ever for this Buffalo Bills football player.
Khalil Shakir, wide receiver for Buffalo Bills, took a break from clutch plays to rescue 19 dogs from forcibly crossing the rainbow bridge on Aug 31st.
Khalil helped move the dogs from Clarke County Animal shelter (a kill shelter) to Nickel City Canine Rescue, ESPN reports.
A viral video on Instagram captured Khalil, his mom, wife and two best friends help settle the dogs in their (fingers crossed) temporary home.
Just like Missy–Khalil’s dog–had to do when fostered from Nickel City and adopted by Shakir family last year.
The transport comes on the heels of Khalil holding a pet adoption event through the Shakir Family Foundation on Aug 30th. According to ESPN, 18 dogs were adopted from Nickel City at the event.
Khalil Shakir is definitely a dog’s best friend.
