The Philly Champ is Here to Collect a New Award

Jalen, do you have any space left on your mantel?

If not, make room bro, cause Philly is not done wrapping their brotherly love on you.

The latest hardware of appreciation–the Philadelphia Citizen of the Year award–was presented to Jalen Hurts on Saturday by Pennsylvania Governor Josh Stein.

The Citizen Award spotlights Jalen Hurts charity work throughout Philly and it’s a worthy light for the Super Bowl LIX MVP to bask in.

In April, he donated $200,000 to install air conditioning units to 10 Philly schools and an additional $5,000 for every touchdown he cinched this past NFL season, according to Philly Sports Network.

Jalen also donates his time mentoring kids on financial literacy and supporting local Philadelphia children’s hospitals.

The hometown honor touched his heart.

“The city of Philadelphia has been great to me. I know I’ve given it my heart and my soul daily, and it means the world to have all these different avenues. This holds a special place in my heart, and the pursuit of what we’re doing, everyone in this room, it’s more than just on the field but off the field. What I strive to do is just serve, mentor, progress, give people opportunities that they don’t even know that they have. That pursuit to uplift those around us and create those opportunities continues.”

It’s official! Jalen is the people’s MVP. Sorry, Philly.
