When Indianapolis player Sauce Gardner learned a local East Detroit woman’s home was destroyed by an EF-2 tornado, he did the unthinkable.

The Colts cornerback gave her a call and told her not to worry.

According to Click on Detroit, Sauce saw Nadine Rivers’ pleas to keep her nearly demolished home on the news Sept 24th.

The following day, yes good Friday, Sept 25th, Sauce had contractors from his construction company Supreme Construction crew arrive at Nadine’s home to clean up debris and repair damage.

The tornado’s strong winds ripped through the roof, blew out all the windows and collapsed the front porch.

Nadine and her family of seven have been living in hotels since the destruction, and doesn’t have home owners insurance to cover the damage.

But help was still on the way.

“Honestly, we saw the article on the news yesterday,”  Hunter Schattler, co-owner of Supreme Construction Group told Click on Detroit. “As soon as we saw it, we wanted to jump into action and see if we could be of assistance.”

City crews have also pitched in to clear debris from the home with their equipment.

Nadine says she is overwhelmed with the amount of love.

“I told you I’m living a Cinderella dream,” Rivers said. “I really am living a Cinderella dream.”

Well, her fairy godmother is definitely Sauce. 

Sauce, Detroit native, has a partnership with the  City of Detroit and offers rental assistance to several 301 families.
