No ordinary person would do this, amirite?
So it’s not a surprise our fave EGOT- winning artist John Legend is doing his big one for college kids across the country.
John linked up with hospitality group Bilt to cover the rent of 50 college students across four universities that John handpicked, including three HBCUs: Morehouse college, Central State University and Wilberforce University.
John also gave the greenlight to his alma mater and oldest HBCU, the university of Pennsylvania.
John is all in for tossing a lifeline to a broke college student because he remembers when he was one.
“I lived on the quad [at Penn] my freshman year, and then I lived off-campus the remaining three years. So, I was paying my own rent, had a work-study job, and I had a job at a church. I was hustling and I was doing it so I could pay my rent, so I know what it feels like to be in that position where you’ve got to figure out how to do it yourself,” Legend told Bilt in a statement. “I’m sure a lot of kids in school right now are in that same position.”
Plenty, I’m sure.
Salute to John Legend for making things a little easier for our college kids.
