So not only is Ne-Yo a gentleman, he’s also got a sweet tooth? My kind of guy…

The Non-Fiction singer has teamed up with Sprinkles (ooohhh cupcakes!!) to create a cupcake benefitting his Compound Foundation.
So, if you’re in need of a sugar rush, order the strawberry cheesecake cupcake and full proceeds go to Ne-Yo’s charity to raise awareness for National Foster Care month.

The fedora-wearing crooner’s Compound Foundation seeks to enhance the life of kids growing up in the foster care system. The foundation’s programs include music therapy, music boot camp, scholarships and grants.

The Sprinkles strawberry cheesecake cupcake is only available this month. Grab a few for the fight tonight.

Kevin Hart Offers College Scholarships | NE-YO is Principal for the Day

Funnyman Kevin Hart is serious about the higher learning experience. So much so the “Get Hard” actor has teamed up with “your mind is a terrible thing to waste” crew, better known as United Negro College Fund, to reward four students with college scholarships.

The $50,000 scholarship will go to four deserving high school students of Kevin’s choosing. According to Campus Lately, the lucky seniors all happen to be from Philly. It is the city of brotherly love, after all…oh, and it’s also where Kevin hails from. (color that coincidental!)

Kevin said it’s just desserts for the kids hard work, and it’s a much better investment than making it rain over a stripper’s pole.

This is me stepping up to the plate and saying what you’re doing is dope. You’re dope. You’ve got the opportunity to be the dopest of all dopetivity. My money went to a much much more useful cause I guess you would say than what I would have been doing with it at a strip club.

No, in all seriousness, congrats to all the worthy scholars. You can watch them get rewarded on “An Evening of Starts” on BET April 26th.

NE-YO deserves a pat on the back too. The “Non-Fiction” crooner was brave enough to step into the shoes of a high school principal. (Better him than me.) For one day, NE-YO led the pack at High School of Fashion Industries in New York City.

Lending a hand was The Breakfast Club’s Angela Yee, who interviewed the singer in front of an auditorium of teens.

The day kicked off with NE-YO chatting with students in an exclusive meetup. The upstarts–student ambassadors–got access to the platinum singer when they led their school to victory in the Capital One Bank NYC College Challenge. The competition is to get as many teen leaders or ambassadors to motivate their classmates on the path to college. Mission accomplished for High School of Fashion Industries; they got over 1,000 students active on this topic.

Which definitely deserves a NE-YO sing-a-long:

Along with a Q&A session headlined by Angela Yee. NE-YO dropped some knowledge on what it takes to be a success. (Hint: Persistence, Persistence, Persistence)

It took me 12 years to get to the beginning. A lot of people are going to tell you ‘no.’ As opposed to talking to people, you have to show them.

He’s not lying.

Topping off the teens best day ever was a lip sync battle where the kids unleashed their performing talents.

Keep up the good work, kiddos.

Rihanna Throws 1st Annual Diamond Ball to Benefit Clara Lionel Foundation

Rihanna shined bright like a diamond last night; draped in Zac Posen couture gowns and adorned with Chopard jewels, in honor of the pop tart’s inaugural gala for the Clara Lionel Foundation, held in the ritsy 90210 zip code aka Bev Hills.

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

Rih Rih treated celeb attendees–Tia and Corey Hardrict, Kim and Kris Kardashian, Salma Hayek, rapper Fabolous, Big Sean, Tyrese–and the Fenty family with her old and new tunes with a live orchestra backing the “Umbrella” singer up.

But not before Brad Pitt cued the orchestra up and gave a cringe-worthy intro. This is when a teleprompter with very funny, witty writers comes in handy. Not everyone can be Jimmy Kimmel, oh he hosted the ball, BTW.

The black-tie affair was to highlight Rihanna’s foundation, named in honor of grandparents Clara and Lionel, that aims to “improve the quality of life for communities globally in the areas of health, education, arts and culture.”

To raise money for the Clara Lionel Foundation, founded in 2012, the org launched an online auction that offers meet and greets with Rihanna as well as Kanye West (if you’re in to it) and other exclusive items. Click here to peruse the offerings.

Happy post-Labor Day, post-BBQ, post-no white pants allowed season. Summer is unofficially a wrap–just don’t tell Mother Nature because she’s still beaming 80° weather over our heads in the Big Apple–and what better way to give it a fond farewell than having a ludicrously philanthropic blowout by the self-proclaimed man himself.

Ludacris kicked off his 9th annual Ludaday weekend, a four day binge on charitable events benefitting the ATL community through the Ludacris Foundation, with a strike! Nope, no one was out, the “Fast & Furious” star launched a celeb bowling tournament Thursday, which attracted Neyo, Lance Goss and Rev Run’s daughter Angela Simmons.

But, the actual winner of the night was producer Lil Ronnie.

The Ludaday weekend charity tour took over Banneker High School Friday, with a health talk and improv workout at the gym. Wonder which snatched bod will look the best in their back-to- school clothes…

ludacrisgreetingcrowdThe Ludaday weekend tour bus rolled onto Georgia State University. The new Frosh and upperclassmen were treated to a block party with free food and entertainment by Bobby Shmurda. **raised eyebrows** as nice as it may have been to get Shmoney dance lessons and watch his cap get stuck in the clouds, didn’t this up-and-coming rapper just dodge a drive-by shooting?!! Just saying…y’all be safe.

Rounding out the last two days of the Ludaday weekend was a celeb b-ball game, which Larenz Tate, Dwight Howard, Bow Wow Shad Moss, and Big Tigger suited up for to take to the hardwood at GSU gym Sunday. The victor was, of course Ludacris for the game and hosting a starstudded charity event.

The winning team!!!

The winning team!!!

Sitting courtside was “Love and Hip Hop: Atlanta” stars  Rasheeda and Kirk, no doubt taking a break from the show’s violently explosive reunion show.

And the Pied Piper of R&B, R. Kelly, chilled with Luda backstage.

Cheers to the friggin weekend!!!

Nick Cannon, Neyo and Timbaland Help Boys and Girls Clubs of America Sound the Alarm

Boys and Girls Club alumni took over Times Square this past weekend to sound the alarm about the club’s new campaign: Great Futures. It aims to reinforce the idea that “when school’s out, clubs are in.” The day party was hosted by the oldest teenager in the world, sorry Dick Clark, Nick Cannon and Neyo and young club entertainers performed. But music producer Timbaland stole the show by whipping out a $1 million check to the BGCA org through his–and wife Monique Mosley’s–Always Believing Foundation.

The foundation’s goal to encourage youth to be a voice in their community matches BGCA Great Futures campaign to provide a safe and engaging place for kids to be their best selves.

Endorsing that message was Yankess star CC Sabathia, Olympic icon Jackie Joyner-Kersee, singer Estelle and “The Talk’s” Adrienne Bailon who made an appearance with thousands of others at the Crossroads of the world.

The festivities weren’t confined to the big apple, boys and girls clubs across the nation were celebrating the new initiative to emphasis after-school programs.

Virtual celeb supporters included Lebron James, Kelly Rowland, Ashanti and Michael Phelps that took to their social media to show support. Kelly posted this pic on her Facebook page.

“When the 3PM school bell rings, 15 million    kids in      America have no place to go. But just    like me, you can  help! Open the door for  America’s Kids…”

Now through Sept. 15, all donations made to Great Futures campaign will be matched dollar for dollar, to donate click here

GOLDEN CAUSES: Halle Berry, Neyo, Kelly Rowland Hit Post-Oscar Parties to Support Charities

The envelopes have been opened. The congratulatory champagne uncorked and gowns have been celebrated and widely panned. Award season is officially a wrap. Yayyyyy!!! As happy as I am to see its entrance every year, I’m even more ecstatic to see its exit. Despite the Oscar revelry (more so than ever this year) I can’t help but compare it to a circus in town. Instead of lions, tigers and elephants emerging from their cages to entertain, we’ve got celebs climbing out their limos, some more carelessly than other’s (yes, I’m looking at you J Law), to stand under the Big Top  Big Tent to give us a 360° view of their stylists creations.

Before you label me a cynic or Debbie-the-downer, I must admit I love award season. I live for award season. My mother and I nearly circle the dates on the calendar in anticipation. And this year was no different. We were both certainly apart of the Lupita Nyong’o ever-growing fan club. And I jumped off my couch when she joined the small ranks of Black women clutching lil Oscar (for those counting she makes 8). She is a shining example of class and grace to young girls around the world. I look forward to her next human condition contribution.

We won’t have to wait long for some celeb’s charitable deeds. Elton John’s 22nd Annual Fundraising Oscar viewing party raised $5.1 million dollars towards HIV/AIDS prevention. The cause attracted the likes of Kelly Rowland, Russell Simmons and Mel. B as attendees.

Meanwhile in Beverly Hills, Halle Berry made a rare appearance (where you been hiding, girl?) at the Fame and Philanthropy party that attempted to raise $1 million dollars each to two charities: Charlize Theron’s Africa Outreach project that educates African youth on AIDS/HIV and The Community Inspiring Today’s Youth, a LA-based non-profit that guides students on entrepreneurship.

Russell Simmons wasn’t the only one star gazing for a good cause on Saturday, Holly Robinson Peete looked delish in a hot pink evening gown to attend her 15th annual DesignCares event, which is made up of a fashion show, performances and live/silent auctions, to raise money for the HollyRod Foundation. Holly and husband former NFLer Rodney Peete created the HollyRod Foundation to provide resources and financial support to families suffering from Parkinson’s Disease and Autism.

Two causes close to Peete’s heart after watching her father suffer from Parkinson’s disease and her elder son diagnosed with Autism.

The event was held at a private residence in Malibu. Neyo rocked the crowd made up of chocolate Hollywood A-listers….like
