Saint Nick! AGT Host Rocks Times Square for Children’s Hospital

Nick the-man-that-never-sleeps Cannon. Seriously, I think his nights are usually spent like this. Well, as always his efforts are for a good cause. In this case, he threw a shindig in Times Square (at Hard Rock Café) with his nearest and dearest–Nelly, the Harlem Globetrotters, the Craig Lewis Band and Alicia Michilli– last night to raise money for St. Mary’s Childrens Hospital.

The City’s oldest and sole pediatric post-acute care hospital has a good friend in Cannon who went on a 48-hour media blitz to promote St. Mary’s.

Rapper Nelly joined in on the fun. Hanging out with some new friends before he hit the stage.

The Harlem Globetrotters may have signed their youngest b-baller.

And the night couldn’t end without Nick taking the stage…but thankfully he DIDN’T rap. We’re all grateful for that.

I’m sure all the kiddies felt like they were flying after the concert.

But the “Ludaversal” rapper got the party started early when he invited 1000 kids and their mentors to an Atlanta Braves game last night at Turner field. Hip Hop Gives Back posted a video of Ludacris tossing shirts to the squealing crowd of kids.

Adding to that Ludacris will return to his high school alma mater to preach the value of living healthy.

We’ll post more pics and video of Luda Cares star-studded event raising money for Atlanta youth.

As promised below are snaps of the red carpet affair and bowling competition that pitted Ludacris against Usher

Nick Cannon Gives Gifts to St. Mary’s Hospital Kids

nickcannonkids

Ludacris isn’t the only one that loves the kids. Nick Cannon paid a visit to St. Mary’s hospital (he’s their celebrity ambassador) to play Santa Claus. Minus the suit and well, it’s September and all. Nonetheless the kids got gifts from Radio Shack. Wonder if it was a going out of business sale… hey, they said they were closing up shop.

Well not better Nick Cannon scooped up some goodies for his fave St. Mary’s kids. Nick even taught them some new moves. Check out the video below.

And made a new friend.

Boys and Girls Club alumni took over Times Square this past weekend to sound the alarm about the club’s new campaign: Great Futures. It aims to reinforce the idea that “when school’s out, clubs are in.” The day party was hosted by the oldest teenager in the world, sorry Dick Clark, Nick Cannon and Neyo and young club entertainers performed. But music producer Timbaland stole the show by whipping out a $1 million check to the BGCA org through his–and wife Monique Mosley’s–Always Believing Foundation.

The foundation’s goal to encourage youth to be a voice in their community matches BGCA Great Futures campaign to provide a safe and engaging place for kids to be their best selves.

Endorsing that message was Yankess star CC Sabathia, Olympic icon Jackie Joyner-Kersee, singer Estelle and “The Talk’s” Adrienne Bailon who made an appearance with thousands of others at the Crossroads of the world.

The festivities weren’t confined to the big apple, boys and girls clubs across the nation were celebrating the new initiative to emphasis after-school programs.

Virtual celeb supporters included Lebron James, Kelly Rowland, Ashanti and Michael Phelps that took to their social media to show support. Kelly posted this pic on her Facebook page.

Join Nick Cannon to Stomp Out Bullying & Al Sharpton Opens Wallet to Avonte Oquendo Family

So, I haven’t been out of school that long ago to know the paralyzing effect bullying can have on others. Yes, I was bullied. I’m not ashamed to admit it. Actually, I know why I was targeted; the quiet, shy brainiac always sticks out like a sore thumb. And that’d be me. But, a little hair pulling, hurling insults my way like a pebble off a Dennis the Menace slingshot is nothing compared to what kids these days have to endure. I feel for them and fear for my niece, nephew and unborn child that incessant taunting can somehow lead to this.

But, if you’re anything like Nick Cannon, rapper, producer, comedian, etc., etc., you will help  Stomp Out Bullying. Nick is working with the non-profit org that educates about the effects of bullying by auctioning himself off. How generous!!! Winners of the auction get the chance to spend the afternoon with Nick working at his Teen Nick offices in New York City.  So far the star’s opening bid is $500, not to shabby Mr. Mariah Carey.  Bidding ends next week Thursday.

Let the auction commence.

Also, click on the video above to find out if Nick Cannon was bullied. Taye Diggs, Grey’s Anatomy Chandra Wilson and Good Wife’s Archie Panjabi talk about why they want to Stomp Out Bullying.

And the search goes on, and on. Its been 19 days since Avonte Oquendo has been missing. There has yet to be a trace of his whereabouts. NYC police commissioner Ray Kelly has announced scaling back police and volunteer resources on the search. Meanwhile, Oquendo’s family and Al Sharpton have stepped up the search.

The renowned black activist has pledged his own $5,000 reward to anyone who knows the whereabouts of the missing autistic teenager.

Please continue to keep your eyes peeled. #FindAvonte
