E! News must be doing Terrence J good. The sometimes actor/model turned E! News host plopped down $100 Gs to his alma mater–North Carolina A&T State University.

In exchange, the Journalism and Mass Communication dept. declared April 24th will forever be ‘Terrence J Day’ on the Greensboro, North Carolina campus. Cool. Wonder if that includes a master key…

Not sure, but it definitely warranted some encouraging words from the guest of honor for the soon-to-be graduating class: “don’t follow your dreams, chase them.”

On Terrence’s Instagram page, he shared the $100,000 endowment check was payback for the school taking a chance on him when no one else did. In four years, he graduated with a 3.6 GPA, became student body president and Omega Psi Phi fraternity member.

This is step 1 in doing more, not just at my school but for communities around the country where young people feel forgotten and unheard. I don’t have all the answers-FAR from it. But my goal is to inspire others to give back-in any way-just as I’ve been inspired to do the same.

When I was 17 the world felt cold and lonely. But I didn’t need handcuffs- I needed a hand. Thanks to all that have helped me on my path.

Amen. Amen. Amen. Let the church say amen.

In keeping with the empowering youth theme, Real Housewives of Atlanta star and radio personality Claudia Jordan visited North Clayton Middle School yesterday to talk about the dangers of bullying.

Interesting topic given the antics that go on on her reality show, or even the reunion for that matter.

Nonetheless, this is what the newest housewife said at the #BullyingIsNotHot event hosted by her radio station:

“I want to encourage you all to be responsible. You never know how your one comment may push someone over the top. You never know what someone is going through.”

Very true. Let’s hope the message is echoed to the other housewives because actions always speak louder than words. And you know kids watch those actions like an on-duty crossing guard observes cars.

RHOA Kenya Moore Raises $40K for Detroit Schools on ‘Celebrity Apprentice’

“Real Housewives of Atlanta” star Kenya Moore added more coins to the Detroit Public School Systems coffers.

Winning a “Celebrity Apprentice” challenge–to create a marketing campaign for Ivanka Trump’s shoe collection sold through Nordstrom– helped her rake in $40,000 ($20K was for winning the challenge and Donald Trump matched it.)

The Twirl girl has been making it rain since last year for the struggling city’s school system, without a certain Housewife’s help.

For those counting she’s donated $60K to the motor city’s public schools.

Let’s see how much “moore” money she’ll get out of The Don as this season rolls on.

Kenya Moore may be many things, but a woman of her word is sho nuff one of them. If you recall seven months ago, during the temper fueled “Real Housewives of Atlanta” reunion special, the twirl queen and Nene “moneybags” Leakes hesitantly agreed to donate to their favorite charities. And to prove how deep Nene’s pocketbook is she pledged to match Kenya’s donation to her fave charity as a peace offering for acting ratchet at a Kenya Moore-endorsed charity event.

Well, hunni, Kenya has officially signed, sealed annnddd delivered the $20K to the Detroit Public Schools Foundation. The org confirmed the donation last week.

No word on when Nene is dropping her check in the mail…

Your favorite Georgia peach is exercising her Southern hospitality by collecting back-to-school supplies to distribute to single parents in Atlanta. Through Kandi’s Kandi CARES charity–she’s filling her Walmart shopping cart up with notebooks, pens, pencils and three-ring binders–you can register to receive the school related swag.

And for those generous Atlantans willing to contribute to the cause, you can meet the mogul housewife tonight (between 6pm-8pm) at the Walmart on Research Center Drive.

Happy school shopping!!!

Kandi’s event looked like a success. To view her thank you message, check out the video below.

RHOA’s Apollo Nida, Husband of Phaedra Park, Wants To Support YOUR Charity, For a Fee

I’m starting to think charity events and Real Housewives stars mix as well as sweet tea and vinegar. Stirring the teacup this week is Real Housewives of Atlanta’s Apollo Nida, husband of Phaedra Parks.

According to Radar Online, Apollo was invited to a charity fundraiser that supports battered women and children–Dio Bambini–and the organizer assumed the Phine fitness star’s presence was gratis. Until…it wasn’t.

“At first it was like, ‘Ok, I’ll do it for $2,000,” says Chase DeCarlo of Dio Bambini, who convinced him to take $1,200.”It’s still a lot, but we’re still in discussion. He just sent me a contract for $2,000.”

“We’re trying to get Kandi [Burruss, also of RHOA] to come too, and she said she would come for free,” says DeCarlo. “I’m still talking with my people to see if it’s worth it to get Apollo at all. We have people with a better background willing to do it for free, so I don’t know.”

For those not up-to-date on Apollo’s sketchy past: he’s an ex-convict with a five year rap sheet for opening a fake car dealership and applying for loans with stolen identities. And recently he’s been arrested and accused of bank fraud and identity theft.

{SIDEBAR: A lot of people feel that Apollo shouldn’t even be given the option to attend charity events because of his criminal past. To which I ask, why not? We all have a past filled with mistakes, they may not be as colorful as his, but we are all still capable of influencing/servicing people for the better. If we hold people to the standard of apple picking who should help who…no one would feel worthy to reach out a hand to others.}

Therein lies the dilemma. Decarlo fears forking over the cash and Apollo running with it. See, federal prosecutors gave Apollo until April 25th to make a deal on his charges otherwise he will go to jail. The charity event is on May 2nd.

Apollo took to Youtube to speak his peace and clarify the $2,000 is for travel expenses not his personal piggy bank. And believes “2,000 is generous” Hmph. Oh, and the contract stipulates a 50% refund if he’s a no show. Check the video below.

Welp, the charity has not been recognized on Charity Navigator and it isn’t listed as a 501c org either.

EXCLUSIVE: RHOA’s Kenya Moore, Vivica Fox & Keshia Knight Pulliam Join Trump’s “Apprentice” for Charity

I exclusively spotted the twirl queen aka “Real Housewives of Atlanta’s” Kenya Moore making herself dizzy for charity at Manhattan’s PieFace bakery, while “The Cosby Show” star Keshia Knight Pulliam and “Sharknado’s” Vivica Fox were swiping customers’ credit cards. The roving cameras gave away the best kept secret: competitors for latest round of “Celebrity Apprentice” have been chosen.

Although it hasn’t been officially announced, it was pretty obvi this was a team challenge. Also rounding out the group that’s pegged “Team Infinity” are talk show host Leeza Gibbons, snowboarder Jamie Anderson (she waited on me, such a sweetheart.), “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” Brandi Glanville (we chatted about how amazing the food smelled), gymnast Shawn Johnson and “Jon & Kate Plus Eight” Kate Gosselin, who was surprisingly friendly.

So, here’s the scoop. Customers buying a pie could take a snapshot with a celeb. So, after Rudy, er Keshia rung me up, (and in the process I took many candid shots of her) I hauled ass to Ms. Twirl, who pranced around the shop like a ballerina on steroids, to take a cute pic together.

It was hard to tell who was the team captain, but if I had to guess it was either Kenya or Kate because they weren’t working as hard as the ladies behind the counter, which got me thinking what charities are they shilling pies for.

Well, I’ve come up with a few guess-estimates. Keshia Knight Pulliam will more than likely throw her Kamp Kizzy non-profit into the ring. It’s a mentoring camp for young girls. Vivica’s charity is a little hard to narrow down. She’s supported so many over the years, but if I were a betting woman I’d put it on Breast Cancer Awareness or Sojourn, an LA-based safe haven for domestic violence survivors,  because of her public support of the charities in the past. And finally Kenya Moore would be honoring who else? Kenya Moore, lol. I can bet my hat she will try to pull in money for The Kenya Moore Foundation that offers young girls  from her alma mater, Cass Technical High School, educational scholarships.

The upcoming season of “Celebrity Apprentice” looks to good to pass up. So, I’ve decided to recap each episode. Stay tuned, my loves. And let the games begin.

Pull out your your rouge blouse, cherry button up sweater or scarlet turtleneck dress cause’ its rockin red Friday, ladies. American Heart Association Volunteer Star Jones was a speaker at the show last night (nice cherry trench, esquire). She is also a survivor of heart disease. In 2010 the attorney/talk show host learned she had heart disease and had to have open heart surgery to repair a valve. After surgery she did 360º  lifestyle change with diet and exercise.

There is another important cause we need to grab our red cloaks for. It’s National Black HIV/AIDS Awareness Day. Remember 11-year-old HIV/AIDS activist Hydeia Broadbent? The little girl with the hoop through her nose that was lecturing us all on prevention against HIV/AIDS. Well, she’s all grown up and still speaking on the important topic of HIV/AIDS in the Black community. Hydeia is on a college tour urging survivors, activists and supporters not to forget today’s meaning.
