Hey, kids wanna sign up for a course that’ll teach you to be a music mogul? Well, you’re in luck if you attend a public high school down South. Not content with making an over night superstar, Usher’s tryna mold the next Russell Simmons’ through his New Look Foundation.

The non-profit developed a high school class, Music Industry Leadership 101 to expose kids to over 30 careers within the music industry. The course will teach marketing, creating a brand, teamwork and guidance from industry executives.

So, kids in the Gwinnett County Public Schools as well as Henry County Public Schools in Georgia; Wake County Public Schools in North Carolina and Polk County Public Schools in Florida will see MIL 101 alongside math and science courses in the Fall term.

The full credit course is expected to serve over 2,000 schoolkids. The course is in conjuction with Usher’s Foundation that teaches youth empowerment through education, talent, career and service.

This is one reason to be excited to go back to school, right?…Okay, maybe when August rolls around.

Here’s something to whet the appetite until then.

It’s that time of year again. When the weather gets warm and the lingering sunshine streaming through a window is a stark reminder that winter seclusion is over. Well, unless you live in the Northeast in which we’re beginning to believe spring has gone the way of the dodo bird. Hotlanta is likely a city living up to its name right now, so why not take advantage of it? You can start with a good cause. Like the one Usher Raymond’s ex-wife Tameka Raymond is promoting; a 5k run or walk event to support Kile’s World Foundation that honors her late son’s memory. It’s the first anniversary of Kile’s World 5k Run/ Walk and all money raised will go towards the Foundation’s Summer Camp that promotes kiddies in the arts. So lace up those kicks for charity.

Usher & Blake Shelton Perform Duet for Oklahoma Relief

Usher and Blake Shelton put their judging caps away for the night, and stepped onto The Voice stage to show how much they love their country (just kidding, Adam)…er, the state of Oklahoma. Being the true Okie that he is, it wasn’t surprising Blake and Miranda would arrange a benefit concert–“Healing in the Heartland”– and take friends Reba McEntire, Rascal Flatts, Vince Gill, Darius Rucker, Luke Bryan and of course Usher along for the ride. Good move considering the concert raised more than $6 million dollars–$3.7 was donated before the concert even aired. All donations will go towards the United Way of Central Oklahoma May Tornadoes Relief Fund. The United Way uses the funds collected to get much needed resources to communities, like Moore.  To donate please visit: www.unitedwayokc.org
