MCM | ‘Saints & Sinners’ Star Gives to Homeless

christian-keyes

Now we know who the saint is–Christian Keyes.

The Let’s Stay Together star turned his lazy Sunday into day of service. By cleaning out his closets, filling up 10 garbage bags worth of Fall gear for donation to homeless org–My Friend’s House Foundation.

Also known as We Feed the Homeless. The LA-based org provides clothes, food and other basics for the homeless.

My Friend’s House founder Tiffany A. Rose is expanding the charity’s operation. She started a Go Fund Me page seeking $25K, so far she’s earned $17,204.

To earn your halo (Christian has one!) donate your coins here.

The ab-tastic model/actor may also have angel wings because he loves to give back. Especially to his hometown of Flint, Michigan.

Last weekend, he hit the hardwood of MSU with Rev Run’s son Diggy Simmons and Cory Hardrict for the 3rd Annual Hoop for Hope celebrity basketball game.

All the proceeds went to helping 1000 families in need and donating two semi trucks of water to the people of Flint, who have had to live with poisoned water since 2014.

Salute to Christian for doing his part to be more of a saint to his community.

They may be rivals on the hardwood, but off the court NBA power forwards–LeBron James, Carmelo Anthony and Chris Paul–are teaming up to help Flint get clean water.

The ballers hooked up with an online organic store–Thrive Market to donate bottled water and nutritious food to those affected by the Flint water crisis.

LeBron, Chris Paul, and Carmelo Anthony partnered with Thrive Market to send a special delivery to the residents of Flint, Michigan. I PROMISE

Please continue to support the residents of Flint. LeBron, Melo and I partnered with Thrive Market to donate water and access to nutritious food over the coming months to the families who have been affected.

But nothing tops 7-year-old Isiah Britt’s contribution to the water-plagued city. The Gainesville, Virginia res was just as sympathetic as the rest when he learned about the Flint water crisis (despite the lack of media coverage, Flint is still hurting.) from his parents.

The pre-teen was all set to send water to Eisenhower Elementary in Flint, until he learned the kids were more in need of hand sanitizer. Because need clean water to wash their hands. Duh? It’s kind of a no-brainer when you think about it.

After finding out how much hand sanitizer he would need for each, Isiah set up a GoFundMe account with a goal of $500. Once that was reached Isiah raised the bar–he wanted to provide hand sanitizer dispensers to every elementary school in Flint.

The kid’s lofty goal paid off. He raised over $10,000. More than enough hand sanitizer dispensers for each school along with refills and disinfectant wipes.

“That was the best day of my life, trying to help a different school,” Isiah told WTVR. “It doesn’t matter if you’re small. It doesn’t mean you can’t do big things.”

I think this is just one of the big things Isiah will do.

Man Candy Monday | Russell Simmons and Snoop Dogg Visit Flint, Michigan

On the heels of Russell Simmons diagnosing the Flint, Michigan water crisis “environmental racism”–where low-income or minority communities are disproportionately affected by a major environmental disaster, like dumping toxic waste–on The Real Friday, he visited the city today.

Going door-to-door to deliver 200,000 water bottles. Plus offering a listening ear to people like Nakeyja. She has three kids and two tested positive for lead poisoning. The 3-year-old suffers from seizures and Nakeyja’s other child doesn’t speak.

The story brought tears to Russell’s eyes. Like most of the stories coming out of Flint recently.

To add insult to injury, the water filters the govt passed out don’t work; they do nothing to decontaminate the poisoned water.  Take note govt officials…

imageedit_7_4767175301Russell Simmons next stop was a rally where he met the whistleblower of Flint water crisis, Dr. Mona Hanna-Attisha of Hurley Medical Center in Flint.

The media mogul followed that up by dropping by Classical Academy to chat up the kids and Principal Tate. RHOA’s Phaedra Parks was also there. No sign of Ayden though….damn.

Rounding out his trip was playing waterboy once again to Flint residents.

It’s the same role Snoop Dogg had when he visited Flint Saturday for a water drive.

snoopflint

Decked out in a ‘Flint Lives Matter’ tee the rapper had a one-on-one with Flint Mayor Karen Weaver. To offer help and to exploit his celeb status for this necessary cause. Snoop made this vow to the crowd.

I have a lot of information to take back to my celebrity friends and people around the world who want to help, but mainly we’d like the governor to step up and do what’s necessary to make sure Flint is taken care of.

Don’t we all. Don’t we all. Keep your prayers up for Flint.

Woman Crush Wednesday | Aretha Franklin Helps Flint, Michigan Residents

Aretha Franklin aka Queen of Soul (rightfully crowned so.) Should add another title to her reign: queen of hearts.

For donating rooms at Holiday Inn in Southfield, a suburb of Detroit, to 25-50 Flint, Michigan residents affected by a tainted water supply.

The R&B Diva will also provide meals from the local Coney Island.

Franklin will depend on her Daddy’s church–New Bethel Baptist Church in Detroit–to determine which Flint residents should benefit and when, reports KSAT.

Good luck with the pre-screen…it is a town of 100,000. I’m guessing they’ll help the worse cases.

“Detroiters usually come to the aid of Detroiters–and Flint is certainly regarded as Detroit” Franklin told Local 4.

Adding “Hang in there” to those suffering in the D.

The R.E.S.P.E.C.T songbird isn’t the only one to come to the rescue of Flint’s water crisis. Diddy made good on his promise by pledging one million bottles of his Aquahydrate water to Flint.

Rapper The Game donated $1 million dollars to Flint through his non-profit–The Robin Hood Project. Half the money is out of his own pocket.

The Game used the opportunity to shade celebs that are “pledging” money to the troubled city rather than donating outright. He posted his rant (see below) on Instagram this week.

To those who think it’s easy getting this water to Flint, it’s not so the people who are PLEDGING they are, show us..We want proof!! Stop using other tragedies for your own celebrity gain…you’re not fooling ANYONE!

The “She’s Got Game” reality star then goes on to call out Madonna and Jimmy Fallon for their measly $10K donations.

I seen @Madonna & @JimmyFallon’s $10,000 donations…that’s cute, but not nearly enough…So I challenge both & anyone else in the world to match me & DONATE $1,000,000 in bottled water to Flint, Michigan & we want proof, shipping order receipts, bank wire receipts, pictures etc……No more pretending to give a fuck….

Guess he’s not a believer of the philosophy every little bit helps.

Seriously though, let’s continue to help Flint y’all.
