FGF | Zendaya Hires Cyberbully Victim | Real-Life ‘Hidden Figure’ NASA Genius

tumblr_o3y26a8s6r1td9fl4o1_500

Happiest of Friday’s to ya.

Trump getting sonned by Arnold Schwarzenegger (if only he could terminate him.) isn’t the only thing that makes it a feel good end of the week.

Zendaya’s clapback game is also fierce, as we all know, and she exhibited it yet again recently.

When twitter user @_illestCee was being bullied by a troll for her weight, Daya swooped in for the rescue.

The K.C. Undercover star took her appreciation to another level by offering the buxom beauty a modeling gig with her brand.

Welp, that was easy.

Speaking of dreams coming true, 22-year-old Tierra Guinn is a aerospace engineer for Boening. Did we mention she’s only 22? Oh, and is still enrolled at M.I.T holding down a 5.0 GPA.

The rocket Guinn is building will be used at NASA.

And who says girls suck at math and science? Not with all these ‘hidden figures’ roaming around.

Finally, to end on a good note, is the cutest Daddy duty video ever. Soul Man star Wesley Jonathan posted an Instagram video of his wife teaching him how to do his daughter’s hair.

Take notes, Daddies.

WCW | Zendaya’s Birthday Wish to Empower Women

zendaya-birthday

K.C. Undercover’s Zendaya celebrated the big 2-0 Thursday. First she commemorated the milestone by (duh!) taking a selfie declaring herself “a woman.”

A woman.

A post shared by Zendaya (@zendaya) on

Then the Spider-Man: Homecoming star does what she does best–direct the spotlight to a cause that needs it.

Zendaya’s birthday wish is to raise $50,000 to Convoy of Hope’s–“a faith-based non-profit that provides food, water, emergency supplies and opportunities to people in need around the globe”–women empowerment initiative that  gives job training and education to women in  Ethiopia, Tanzania, El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua and the Philippines.

Below is what the future Nobel Peace Prize winner wrote on the Convoy of Hope’s donor page:

“For my birthday this year, please join me in supporting strong, beautiful and dignified women around the world. Your gift of any amount will make a positive difference in the lives of these amazing ladies. So, let’s do this!”

So far, $3,433 has been raised to make sure women continue to run the world.

Last year, Zendaya used her 19th birthday to raise $52,858 for orphaned children in South Africa.

Another year older, but Z is light years in the wise department.

Black Girl Magic! Beyonce, Zendaya and Kerry Washington Top Celebs Gone Good in 2015 List

blackgirlmagic_web-large

While we’re toasting Golden Globe winners, let’s also raise a glass to all the celebs that gave an ish about social issues in 2015. DoSomething.org, “one of the largest orgs for young people & social change in the world,” was kind enough to keep a tally of all the celeb do-gooders trying to revamp this crazy world for the better by spotlighting issues like gun control, feminism, racial justice and transgender rights.

Including Beyonce, the Flawless performer was not only feeling herself but the Baltimore protesters too. It’s reported her and Jay Z used some of their billions to bail out the Black Lives Matter protesters. And then there’s her surprise jaunt to a Haitian hospital through her Bey Good charity.

Zendaya places sixth on the Celebs Gone Good list and I’m scratching my head why she’s not No. 1. A spot reserved for her pal Taylor Swift. Tell me if I’m wrong… here are the facts: the “K.C. Undercover” star used her birthday to get fans to donate to three African orphans, used a humiliatingly shallow dig (looking at you Giulana) to school us all on discrimination and racial tolerance, participated in initiatives like Get Schooled Foundation to inspire kids to stay in school and is UNICEF’s spokesperson.

amiright

Move over Jay Z and Beyonce. Step aside Brangelina because John Legend and Chrissy Teigen ARE the philanthropic power couple of 2015. It’s not enough they’re good looking, talented and iconic meme motivators (seriously, stop what you’re doing and follow them. I mean right now.) but they’re generosity is on fleek too. Hashtag blessed. The Selma star and his Fab Life wife also rallied behind Black Lives Matter protesters in NYC with donated meals. Following the Planned Parenthood shooting in Colorado, the couple donated money to the org and encouraged others to do the same. Also (yes, there is more) not one to forget his roots Legend donated $500,000 to his alma mater, Springfield City School District in Indiana.

Viola Davis Joins The Safeway Foundation’s Mission to End Childhood Hunger

Viola Davis gained an Emmy and a gold star from DoSomething.org for her work with childhood hunger. The How to Get Away with Murder star is the ambassador of “Hunger Is” initiative that raises awareness and looks for strategies to combat the country’s childhood hunger problem. An issue close to the Julliard grad’s heart as a victim of those same circumstances growing up in Rhode Island.

No Scandal here. Kerry Washington is a fashion maven, so why not use it as a weapon for social change? That she did. As the Allstate Foundation’s spokesperson for their Purple Purse program that sparks a conversation about domestic violence and financial abuse. Additionally, the fixer everyone loves, is commended for her veteran work with FLOTUS Michelle Obama and LGBTQ efforts.

Last but never least is Serena Williams. The tennis champion gets kudos for hosting the Serena Williams Live Ultimate Run this spring to raise money for her charity and endorsing the 1 in 11 campaign that encourages everyone have access to education.

Riding these goddesses coattails are Hunger Games star Amandla Stenberg. She’s a spokesman for No Kid Hungry org to end child starvation in the US and vocal supporter of the Black Lives Matter movement. And Black-ish’s Yara Shahidi (and Nas’ cousin) for encouraging girls to get involved with STEM in a partnership with Science Sleuth.

All together now, “BLACK GIRLS ROCK!!”

IYB Women Crush | Zendaya’s B-Day Wish | Solange’s Brad Pitt Gig

zendayaunaids

Zendaya turned 19 yesterday. Just let that sink in for a minute. This teenager’s only birthday wish is to find a home for an AIDS ravaged family living in Africa. If that doesn’t earn the singer/actress/social media reader (I mean should I go on?) our woman crush, what will?

Zendaya, the humanitarian, took to Instagram–posting a snap of her with the family of three brothers (their parents died of AIDS) during a UNAIDS visit two months ago–to ask her Zen-DIE-HEARTs aka fans to help move them out a storage container they call home.

I visited where they lived, literally a metal storage container, and heard them speak of the troubles they face like simply getting food. It broke my heart.

To repair it, the “K.C. Undercover” star started a Crowdrise page to pool much-needed donations to support this struggling family. For every $10 donated you get a chance to hop on a video chat with Zendaya. So far $4,194 have been pooled.

Every dollar you donate will go directly to this cause. I can’t do it alone, but I believe that together we can truly change their lives.”

No, seriously how old is this chick? Really…30 somethings aren’t this mature.

solange

Speaking of old souls Solange is definitely one of them. If you stalk follow her Instagram that’s an indisputable fact, so is her love for the Big Easy. So it’s not surprising Solange would headline Brad Pitt’s Make It Right Foundation benefit concert on Saturday to mark the 10 year anniversary of Katrina. The soul singer took to Facebook to express her support of Make It Right, which builds green homes for ‘hoods in need. The Foundation built 150 brand new homes for families affected by Katrina.

I salute them for all the incredible work they’ve done and completely honored and humbled to be apart of this celebration…

Check out a tease of Solange’s performance at the House of Blues.

Looks like Solo slayed the stage. And still reveling in her “magic” based on this tweet.

Good cause, good vibes.

IYB Women Crush | Moves Like Zendaya ‘Walking Dead’s’ Danai Gurira Non-Zombie Mission

zendayatimbo

When Zendaya isn’t slaying it in Taylor Swift music videos, she’s churning out her own hits with a dream team–super producer Timbaland and songwriter Diane Warren. Yesterday the trio, taking a break from working on Zendaya’s sophomore album, visited  Camp Google for Music Week.

The free summer camp is meant to quench inquisitive kids’ thirst (when they start asking why a million times drop ’em off at Google.) with “interactive science activities and adventures.”

So,  what was the scientific brain teaser to call in the “K.C. Undercover” star and Timbo? Why, music and dance of course.

The kiddies wanted to know the process of making music, how to combat writers block (hello and welcome to my world) and the age old question: if you have no rhythm can you still dance?

For answers to all these questions and to see an adorbs dance off, click here.

danai

Danai is just as ride-or-die for her squad as Michonne on “The Walking Dead.” Yet, her recent undertaking doesn’t require a katana. The actor/director is trying to bridge the gap between Hollywood and Zimbabwe through her non-profit–Almasi (meaning brilliant diamond in Swahili) Arts Alliance that helps “create and facilitate artistic collaborations between African artists and American artists and artistic institutions.”

Danai is calling all “Walking Dead” stans to donate a crisp Hamilton (for now…) bill  towards creating more art programs for Almasi, and in return see what zombie life is like. Sorta.

The lucky recipient will be flown to New York to attend season 6 premiere of “The Walking Dead” and get whisked away yet again. This time to Atlanta to see sites where the cast has previously filmed. A weapons training session is included and lunch with Danai.

But, wait there’s more.

A swag bag full of survival gear and a zombie makeover for the ‘gram.

If I peaked your interest click here to donate on crowdRise So far $14,975 has been raised.

Let’s Keep the arts alive (in my Jessie Jackson voice) and these fab ladies for doing their part.

Halle Berry, Pink and Zendaya Saluted for Good Works

halleberry

A long-haired Halle Berry stepped out in Bev Hills last night rocking a little black dress. Ms. Berry may be flirting with 50, but she still can slay like a 20-year-old ingenue.

Halle received the creative conscious award from Variety magazine’s Unite4Humanity benefit that recognizes charitable endeavors. Halle was spotlighted for her work with the Jenesse Center that caters to victims of domestic violence.

Queen Latifah presented Halle with the honor.

In her acceptance speech, she shared her own experiences with domestic violence. And it hit close to home.

Disney star Zendaya was also awarded with the young Luminary statue. Pop star Demi Levato presented her with the same award she received last year for her anti-bullying campaign.

On Instagram Zendaya wrote, “There’s no age limit to being able to help people…thank you
unite4good I plan on doing so much more.”

Pop singer Pink was also there to bring the crowd to tears with her rendition of “Time After Time.” Check it out below, but first grab a hankie.

Kudos well deserved for their kind acts.
