If this isn’t what you consider a philanthropic glow up, I don’t know what is.
Karate Kid star Jaden Smith flipped his two-year-old I Love You food truck–that feeds the homeless in Skid Row area of LA–to an I Love You restaurant.
The Get Down actor told Variety the restaurant is a place for the homeless to get free food.
Not just any food, either. The healthy stuff. The I Love You food truck passed out vegan meals.
Bowls of carrots and kale were given to an estimated 8,000 residents of LA area, Black Enterprise reports.
Lord knows it’s needed with homelessness rising steady in the City of Angels.
According to Los Angeles Homeless Services Authority, 66,000 people were experiencing homelessness in greater Los Angeles area last year.
That’s a 12.6 percent increase from the previous year. Sheesh.
Let’s hope and pray it gets better before it gets even worse. Jaden’s restaurant aims to not only help homeless but have other diners also pay it forward.
“…if you’re not homeless, not only do you have to pay, but you have to pay for more than the food’s worth so that you can pay for the person behind you.”
Spreadin the love, I’m so here for it.
No word on when the doors will open at I Love You restaurant. I’ll wait and watch for y’all.
