Pharrell gives us another reason to smile (it’s the perfect day for it.) The power producer joined forces with a publishing house and literacy nonprofit–FirstBook–to help donate 50,000 books to young book worms from low-income homes.

Penguin Young Readers christened the partnership by unveiling new hastag #readHappy. Where kids can tweet why reading makes them “happy.”

“Every child on this planet deserves to experience the joy of reading,” Pharrell said in a statement.

He has a few of those cuties in his book trailer.

You can pick up a copy of “Happy!” on October 6th.

Pharrell Chooses the Happiest Videos for Global Happy Day

sunshineHAPPY

Are you still hung over with giddiness? UN’s International Day of Happiness was yesterday, and while there may have been some hallmark happy feet encounters, the lasting impression for this annual day of exuberance goes to Pharrell for choosing which “Happy” videos he liked best. The singer/producer chose videos from all over the globe and announced the winners yesterday at noon. So, without further ado, let’s unveil some of the best videos that made Pharrell  and us so damn euphoric:

To check out all the winning videos click here.  Well, that was quite an audio quilt of contentment. Let’s see how long we are brainwashed by “I’m happy…clap along if you feel like a room without a roof…because I’m happy…” Yup, it’s starting already.

Have a Happy Weekend, Loves.

If You’re Happy And You Know It…Show Pharrell

Pharrell is taking his exuberance to whole ‘nother level. The mega singer/producer has teamed up with the United Nations Foundation to celebrate the global day of happiness on March 20th. So, if you’re happy please show it by submitting a Youtube video or if a snapshot of your euphoria is more your speed, you can enter those too. Not only does this bliss campaign tie-in with Pharrell’s international smash song “Happy,” but his push is also to help make history creating the world’s first 24 hour music video.

You can submit your video now by clicking here, and on March 20th Pharrell will choose the crème de la crème of delight to appear in the video premiere at noon.

And who is this helping?

Well, the campaign’s goal is hoping you’ll be so Tom-Cruise excited that you’ll be willing to loosen those purse strings to give coins to the most critical areas on the globe that need it. Specifically, the UN’s Central Emergency Response Fund that helps countries suffering from massive disasters .

Well, I’m all for this cause just to shake my booty to Pharrell’s song, but anything that makes people happy these days (so impossibly rare) I’m for. Let’s spread this “Happy.”

Well, look who’s getting happy? “Real Housewives of Atlanta’s” Cynthia Bailey (and The Bailey Agency) dusted off her dancing shoes and took to the studio–maybe next door to Ms. Nene “Rich Bitch” Leakes–to lift their joy-filled feet off the ground.  Hey, ABC, you may have another Dancing Star in your midst. Check out the video below.

Alright, Ms. Bailey we see you twerking.

It’s the accessory on everyone’s lips this award season. And made more famous by Pharrell than this OG. Yet, the singer/producer is  known more for starting fires than putting them out, ahem, remember the “happy” blaze he caused at the stiffest, staunchest award show? Here’s a reminder. But this time he’s tipping the hat towards an even better cause. The Vivienne Westwood hat has been auctioned off on ebay with funds going towards Pharrell’s From One Hand to Another non-profit that supports Pharrell Williams Resource Center, a community resource center for underprivileged youth ranging from age 7 to 20 in his hometown of Virginia Beach.

The resource center aims to set up programs that will teach science, technology, engineering, arts, math and motivation to at risk kids. The center also offers life coaches and tutoring and motivation lessons to children.

The infamous hat sold for $44,100.00 after only 11 days on ebay. The first two days of bidding garnered $15,000. As a result 250 lucky kids will be traipsing off to one of 9 summer innovation camps Pharrell has under his From One Hand to Another non-profit.

I think the only thing to top this is Miley’s foam finger…no, that would just be a very, very bad idea. Ugghhh.

Last night A.K. literally was THE girl on fire rocking an asymmetrical fire-engine red gown to the 10th anniversary of the Keep A Child Alive Black Ball in New York. The annual event raises millions for her charity that uses the money for medicine, care and support to children living with H.I.V and AIDS in Africa and India.

Of course Swiss Beatz and Egypt were there to support.

According to the charity, Keep A Child alive has raised over $36 million dollars with their events and helped over 300,000 people with their services.

This past summer, the “Brand New Me” singer took her message of getting tested for H.I.V stateside. She visited Harlem Hospital in August to hear stories from those who are H.I.V positive and get tested herself, alongside Congressman Charlie Rangel. Check the video below.
