Thanks for Giving!! Barack Obama, Kevin Hart, Pharrell Williams and Many More Celebs Give Back on Thanksgiving

Is it to late to thank these celebs for rolling up their sleeves to give those less fortunate?

Nope, cause the holiday weekend isn’t over yet.

So let’s raise a glass of spiked eggnog to Kevin Hart for making giving a family affair. By bringing wife Eniko, daughter Heaven, son Hendrix and baby boy Kenzo to LA mission to feed homeless on Skid Row.

The Night School actor wasn’t the only celeb giving back. Garcelle Beauvais and “The Real” co-host Loni Love also donned aprons.

“The Jamie Foxx” star brought along twin boys Jax and Jade to chip in.

Super producer Pharrell Williams even made giving back look lit. He served meals alongside wife Helen Lasichanh and son Rocket Ayers Williams. He’s literally the Happy crooner’s twin.

“Empire” star Nia Long was on green duty with boys Massai Zhavigo Dorsey II and Kez Sunday Udoka.

Meanwhile, at Chi-Town food bank my forever president Barack Obama volunteered to help prep for Thanksgiving.

Obama was tasked with packaging potatoes at Chicago Food Depository.

Kevin Hart Offers College Scholarships | NE-YO is Principal for the Day

Funnyman Kevin Hart is serious about the higher learning experience. So much so the “Get Hard” actor has teamed up with “your mind is a terrible thing to waste” crew, better known as United Negro College Fund, to reward four students with college scholarships.

The $50,000 scholarship will go to four deserving high school students of Kevin’s choosing. According to Campus Lately, the lucky seniors all happen to be from Philly. It is the city of brotherly love, after all…oh, and it’s also where Kevin hails from. (color that coincidental!)

Kevin said it’s just desserts for the kids hard work, and it’s a much better investment than making it rain over a stripper’s pole.

This is me stepping up to the plate and saying what you’re doing is dope. You’re dope. You’ve got the opportunity to be the dopest of all dopetivity. My money went to a much much more useful cause I guess you would say than what I would have been doing with it at a strip club.

No, in all seriousness, congrats to all the worthy scholars. You can watch them get rewarded on “An Evening of Starts” on BET April 26th.

NE-YO deserves a pat on the back too. The “Non-Fiction” crooner was brave enough to step into the shoes of a high school principal. (Better him than me.) For one day, NE-YO led the pack at High School of Fashion Industries in New York City.

Lending a hand was The Breakfast Club’s Angela Yee, who interviewed the singer in front of an auditorium of teens.

The day kicked off with NE-YO chatting with students in an exclusive meetup. The upstarts–student ambassadors–got access to the platinum singer when they led their school to victory in the Capital One Bank NYC College Challenge. The competition is to get as many teen leaders or ambassadors to motivate their classmates on the path to college. Mission accomplished for High School of Fashion Industries; they got over 1,000 students active on this topic.

Which definitely deserves a NE-YO sing-a-long:

Along with a Q&A session headlined by Angela Yee. NE-YO dropped some knowledge on what it takes to be a success. (Hint: Persistence, Persistence, Persistence)

It took me 12 years to get to the beginning. A lot of people are going to tell you ‘no.’ As opposed to talking to people, you have to show them.

He’s not lying.

Topping off the teens best day ever was a lip sync battle where the kids unleashed their performing talents.

Keep up the good work, kiddos.

Kevin Hart, Kylie Jenner, RHOA Kandi Burruss and VH1 Black Ink Crew Cast Spread Holiday Cheer

For those lacking the holiday spirit theme of spreading goodwill, you might want to follow the lead of these generous celebs.

Funnyman Kevin Hart took time off his many jobs (in my Phaedra Parks voice) to treat 150 lucky LA-based kids with Toyz ‘R Us gift cards worth $100. Hart joined Clippers player Chris Paul that urged kiddos to FIRST buy something for others and then treat themselves. The pay-it-forward lesson also applied to Paul and Hart’s kids that joined in on the giving.

Watch Hart’s Oprah moment here.

Not to be outdone in the generosity department, newbie couple Kylie Jenner and rapper Tyga handed out toys at LA’s Childrens’ Hospital.

Meanwhile, down south, “Real Housewife of Atlanta” Kandi Burruss held a “Warm Hearts” coat and blanket drive. Through her Kandi Kares Foundation, team Burress (including Riley and step-daughter Kaela) collected donated blankets and childrens’ coats to distribute at a local shelter.

Back East, VH1’s “Black Ink Crew” plans to send 100 jail inmates holiday care packages. Given that one member of the tat squad may be facing hard time (O’Shit) it’s not surprising this would be their cause to herald. If you want Black Ink to send a care package to an inmate, here’s what you do: 1. Follow @blackinkmag on Twitter 2. Repost Black Ink Magazine, issue 2, on Facebook 3. Send IG info, inmate info to

Kevin Hart Surprises Lil Fundraiser with Large Donation in Philly Hometown

Last weekend may have been Kevin Hart’s birthday, but he was the one surprising fans with his big heart (awwww).  In a hometown visit to Philly the funnyman came across 8-year-old Kyshone Smith, while visiting his fav cheesesteak joint (Max’s Steaks, if you’re wondering), who was selling bottled water and homemade jewelry. Undaunted by Kevin’s entourage of fans and handlers Kyshone asked if he’d buy a bottled water.

“I want 20 bottles,” Hart reportedly said.

Kyshone was stunned by the large order, but the comedian quelled his anxiety by saying he was joking and handed him a crisp $50 before getting to those cheesesteaks.

Kyshone was with his grandmother, Janice Brown, who is using money raised for the water and jewelry to fund charities in recognition of her daughter and granddaughter (who was 11 months.) They were both killed when a driver ran into them on the sidewalk while attempting to get away from police.

“Even though his last name is Hart, he has a great heart. He hasn’t forgotten about where he comes from,” Brown told

Kevin’s goodwill tour also included posting a funny Instagram video of him supporting the local bootleg DVD man by purchasing Think Like a Man Two!!!

Sounds like a memorable 35th b-day, Kev.

ATTENTION PHILLY MITCHES: Kevin Hart Has a Public Service Announcement

What Kevin Hart lacks in size (which is just slightly above a second grader’s, j/k) he makes up for with his big heart. The famous comedian put it on display when he donated $250,000 to his hometown of Philly’s public schools, parks and community centers.  Check the video below to hear what made him open his fat wallet.

The money went towards buying 500 computers for schools and community centers in the city of brotherly love. And they surely need it considering that Pennsylvania’s governor recently released $45 million in federal funds to keep Philly schools afloat for the remaining school year. And have been operating with a shortage of school nurses, which was linked to one student’s asthma attack death in a school without a nurse.

Kevin visited four Philly schools today to deliver 300 laptops to students and 200 desktop computers to 27 Philly community centers, the AP reported.

“These computers will allow our students to expand their studies, explore new course material, and prepare for college and careers for years to come,” Superintendent William Hite.

Kevin–attendee of Philly public schools–said giving back was a major priority.

My city made me who I am today and for that I am thankful. I will make it my priority to help my city get out of this debt.

Good job, Kevin.
