ICYMI! Stephen and Ayesha Curry Launch Pop Up Libraries in Bay Area

Stephen and Ayesha Curry are the new reading rainbow

You’re welcome, for letting me take your eyes away from anything and everything involving slapgate.

It’s for my own mental health too; if I have to read another think piece my eyes will roll back into the sockets. Sorry not sorry.

Soooo in case you missed it, Stephen and Ayesha Curry are that couple. The kind that fosters the village that makes it easier to raise our child in.

Case in point: Ayesha and Stephen Curry have constructed and launched four pop up libraries throughout under served ‘hoods in Oakland on Friday.

That means instead of taking your kiddo to the library to check out a book, you can grab one from the Little Town Library on the corner.

“We want to encourage kids to read by making it accessible, fun and inspirational. We hope that these free, book-sharing libraries will help plant the seeds needed to continue growing a culture of literacy for the next generation in Oakland.”

“We want to encourage kids to read by making it accessible, fun and inspirational. We hope that these free, book-sharing libraries will help plant the seeds needed to continue growing a culture of literacy for the next generation in Oakland.”

Ayesha and Stephen Curry expect to create 150 ‘Little Town Libraries’ around Oakland–specifically in East and West Oakland, Fruitvale and Chinatown–through their Eat. Learn. Play. initiative.

The power couple will distribute more than 50,000 books to The Little Town Libraries.

“Our Little Town Libraries will have culturally appropriate stories that mirror students’ daily lives, encouraging them to explore their identities with curiosity and kindness, as well as others that provide windows to new perspectives and possibilities. We are always looking for innovative and creative ways to attack our issue pillars, and this engaging initiative aims to not only foster a culture of literacy but bring fun and vibrant experiences to yards and street corners, too.” says Stephen Curry and Ayesha Curry in a statement.

That’s a good look in promoting literacy.

Get those summer reading lists out, y’all.
